Observance: World Environment Day 2008

The Guwahati chapter of SPOT observed World Environment Day 2008 in Guwahati. Tree plantation in Panjabari took place in the morning. Saplings were distributed among local people. On the spot Art Competition was organized among students in Botahghuli L.P. School. General Meeting was held in the afternoon highlighting the significance of the day and duty of the people for protection of Environment in view of impending danger of global warming to the world community.

Cleaning Operation of UMANANDA OF PEACOCK ISLAND, Guwahati

The members of SPOT had launched cleaning operation of UMANANDA TEMPLE PREMISES during May. The members expressed deep concern for the pitiable condition of the premises which is lagging amenities like drinking water, waiting shed, proper dust bin etc., causing inconvenience to the devotees and visitors. SPOT is undertaking a project to provide minimum amenities in the Peacock Island at a cost of RS.4, 30,000/- (approx) for which it approaches the Business houses to sponsor the same.
